Alamo is an unincorporated community, it is located in the East Bay Area of San Francisco, adjoining to Walnut Creek and Danville. The population was 14,750 in 2010 Census.
Alamo was named by the Spanish in 1850 for the popular trees that lined in San Ramon Creek. The characteristic of Alamo is a small town atmosphere, rolling hills and a lot of Oak trees, real estate value are very high. Medium income is as high as it is in Malibu, but people in Alamo are nice, low key and rural like. Some consider Alamo a bedroom community. Alamo is very conveniently located off I680, less than 30 miles away from San Francisco, short drive to downtown Walnut Creek. Alamo is included in San Ramon Valley School District which is one of the best in the country. Iron Horse trail and the Mt. Diablo are all very close. There are two elementary schools (Rancho Romero and Alamo School) and one middle schools (Stone Valley Middle School), Monte Vista High School is where children will go for high school.
